Nhaus funds the acquisition of land and properties through managed investment trusts (MITs). These MITs enjoy favourable tax incentives when they acquire, construct, or redevelop affordable housing to hold for rent. MITs allow investors to pool their funds to invest in primarily passive investments and have them managed by a professional manager. MITs must derive 80 per cent of their assessable income from affordable housing, and the housing must be available for rent for at least 10 years.
